I am planning to change over to gear driven cams on my 2001 Ultra.
When I cut the old push rods out and go back with new adjustable push rods, (1) can I buy just the adjustable push rods and reuse the stock push rod tubes, or (2) will I need to buy an adjustable push rod kit that comes with new tubes.
I see allot of adjustable push rods for sale without the tubes and I am confused.
The tubes that come with the SE kit make it easier to adjust the rods because the tubes are shorter and the retaining clips are longer, letting you raise the tubes higher out of your way. You can use the stock tubes. You just have less room to work. You can also buy any pushrod that you want and buy the SE covers separately if you wish.
