Anyone compare the SE adjustable push rods against the stock push rods. Even though the stock rods are not adjustable, the ends appear much better than the SE's. In fact, the lower end is much smaller in diameter. I put the SE's on my new build and suspect a top end not getting enough oil - may be these SE push rods?
Is here a reason you would think your not getting enough oil to the top end? Are you experiencing a noise up there? What did you have done to yourbike to have the push rods installed?
I put in TW-26G cams, Big Bore 95", Flat Top Pistons, and the adjustable rods. Noticed that the lower round end on the SE's is quite a bit smaller in diameter than the stock rods.
As well, took out the SE's after I went through the 2.5 turns - installation instructions. The SE's were not near the same length as the stock rods.Does the 2.5 turns seem to work for everyone else?
2.5 to 3.0 turns will work fine but my question is why use the adjustable push rods when you don't need them. The S/E rods are .100 larger in diameter than any other push rod on the market which allows it to rub on the push rod tubes making a noise you don't need. There will be evidence of this by a wear ring that will appearat the top section ofthe rod itself.
If it where me I'd put the stock rods back in and be done with it. Mechanics don't want to take off the rockers to install the camsso they sell this step to the customer saying it will save them money.....but you just spent $150.00 for the rods, don't make since does it.
The longer the adjuster the weaker the push rod.....so the ones your complaining about are used when the base circle of the cam is different than stock but the builder still needs the integrity and stiffness of a good push rod. There are reasons for just about everything not just ease of installing.
the pushrods are shorter after the adjustment because the cam is bigger. if you put the stock pushrods back in, make sure the lifters are not bottomed out, or your world will suck when you fire it up.
