I am at a cross roads. I am not comfortable with rebuilding bottom end, so I took my 94 EVO cases and flywheel to my local dealer. Looks like like $1,800.00 to rebuild. I already bought stock top end kits. I know there are short blocks available on average $2,400.00. Does any one know of any great deals run into on short block assemblies for a evolution?
Have you looked for a local indy to rebuild your bottom end? Or even considered shipping it to a specialist? You may be able to make a decent saving elsewhere.

Can't fathom that cost unless the cases are harmed, and the crank is almost fubared.
We've be-built over 400 pre-1999 cranks here over the years.
BTW, we are currently working on a 145" engine combo for a client in Edmonton.

Scott, you are a tease! Care to share any other info about that? When my ship comes in.....
It is an S&S 145" engine.
Crank is lightened, heads are being re-worked, with added compression, Crane ignition, with a custom exhaust, etc, going in an 2004 Dyna.
Hope he has a seat belt!!

Thanks for the info. Upper cylinder kits are now here. I bought a screaming eagle cam and a midwest breather. What lifters are good to use. What are Sifton oil pups like? What about Revtec? Does anyone have any recommendations. I am not building a big inch beast so I don't require the increased oil flow and the big dollars of fueling or S&S.
