The two most common symptoms of sumping are high oil temps developing rather quickly and sluggish performance; like the bike is dragging an anchor. The diagnosis is to, carefully, remove the crankcase drain plug after riding the bike long enough to achieve operating temperature. If more than 4-6 ounces of oil drains out, sumping is usually the reason why. I have seen as much as a quart coming out of a badly sumping engine.

Reviving this...... So the dealership came to the conclusion that they couldn't fix my bike....WTF? Even the service rep from corporate said there was no fixing it and no one could explain to me why or what exactly was broken. In the end they ended up buying my bike from me and refunding me the money I spent on service. I'm glad they didn't screw me but it sucked to have to give up my bike. I bought another one but now the work starts all over again customizing it and getting the motor how I want. I can't say anything bad about the dealer because they made right by me but I will never refer anyone there again and will definitely never take my bike there again.
