Default Quick intake question...

I'm literally in the middle of working on my bike, and have a question that has been asked a million times, but when I searched was not able to get a straight answer for. I recently picked up a 2012 iron 883. They sold me a SE heavy breather intake with the bike for a 20% discount as a buyer incentive. But I've heard both that I 100% need to get it retuned when I put it on (meaning spend $400 on the SE tuner and another two hours of labor) and I've also heard that if it is the ONLY mod to the bike that I'm completely fine. I already have the factory air box torn apart, so I'd appreciate some solid answers before I either run my bike too lean, or pass up putting on a good looking part. All of my past knowledge is in tuning fuel injected cars. Thanks!

Why don't you check into a TFI by Dobeck. You tell them what mods you have done , such as air , pipes ect. and the will tell what settings to use. I have had one on my Electra Glide for around 5 years without any trouble or bike running lean. I has 4 screws on it and you set them to what numbers they tell you. It just like setting a carb. No need to take to dealer and set on a dyno. No need for a computer to re set if needed. Do a search for Dobeck industries or Techclusions and they are about half the price of what they told you at the dealers.

Awesome, I'll look into that. I know within the next few weeks I'll be going with some sort of ECU tuner/ Fuel controller but I wasn't sure about the immediate affects of the intake. But I like this TFI you're talking about. Thanks!

TFI is a piggy back and not a tuner. There IS a difference.
