I have a 2008 Sporster 883 Custom which had a Stage 1 carried out with V&H slip ons and a Fuel Pak. I think it is an MOT fail because of the sound levels of the slip ons. Thinking of fitting the Smart Partz quiet baffles but don't know how to remove the heat shields to get the original baffles out and drill the hole to retain the new quiet baffles.
Sorry feel a pratt for asking this but can anyone tell me what to do please?
If anyone in Edinburgh thinks it will pass an MOT can you tell me where to go.
Quote from the garage that fitted the pipes - 'the loudest Harley I have ever heard'
Dont know about the Sportsters but the heat shields on my dyna had just 3 jubilee clips holding each....also had to screw off the billet tip to manouvre shield off the pipe.....managed to wring one of the tork screws too.
I had the quiet baffles fitted into big shots staggered a week ago but not quiet enough for 6am starts so waiting on the hard kore baffles arriving in the morning to see if they'll work with the existing baffle.
Dont know if the hard kores would pass any mot even with the V&h quiet baffles, still quite loud and took me about 6 hours and curse words i didn't know i knew to get them in!!
Best to push the old baffle in first then try and line the holes up to get the hard kore in....was going rightly till the jubilee clip at the front messed up was last one i was tightening too, had picked up a couple of spares just in case but the weren't pliable enough, took bout 2 hours of contortionism just to sort that out.
Just fitted the HardKores to my True Duels V&Hs easy to fit, removed heatsheilds 2 stainless pipe clamps, then sprayed the fitted Quiet Baffles in pipes with WD40 waited 10 min pulled them out with a hook cleaned them up with emery coth for refitting. Next drilled hole 180 deg. from original hold screw (8mm drill), repacked wadding on baffle lined up holes for refitting. Slipped in V&H baffle then slipped in HardKore baffle refitted screw.Heat sheilds put back took about 45minutes.
Is it quieter Yes, will it pass a sound test No.
Took mine from 122 db to 108 db legal here is 94 db on mod pipes.
