Default Remove Slip-ons, Run Headers ?

Hey Guys, guess you can tell I am new here, just joined actually because every time I have searched for something my answer,or what i wanted to see was found in this forum.

Well, anyway, I have a 2009 Rocker FXCWC, and was wondering if the factory slip-ons were removed and I ran with just headers, will it hurt the engine?
I have heard of warping the valves from the cool air getting to them too quickly. Also wondering about correct air fuel mix, and back flow ?

Are you looking for sound? Performance?
Any other mods? Tuner? Air cleaner?
I Don't think you'll burn the valves, but it won't run or sound right due to lack of back pressure. They do need at least a little. Do the slip-ons have baffles? I would take the baffles out first and see how it runs/sounds. Go from there. We prolly need more info to give better advice. And welcome to the Forum.

Hey Man, Thanxs for reply.

Yea, guess I am after some sound cause the stock pipes are Very quite. I rode it about 20 miles and it seemed to run ok, and didn't sound too bad to me. I am Thinking of going with wrapped headers anyway, thats why I was wondering about damaging engine components from running it with just factory headers, with the slip-ons removed.
Also was just wondering if it needed to be tuned to run this way, like a download or something as far as Fuel/Air mix. Like when they say they "have to do a download" when installing Vance & Hines and stage 1 kit .?.

I'm not really after Performance I just like to cruise around.

That's true if you do both A/C and exhaust. Just one or the other you shouldn't have to do anything. But I would think you're gonna get a lot of backfiring and deceleration popping that drives you crazy. It'll also run better with a little back pressure that the slip-ons provide. Try removing the baffles 1st. What I would do. Good luck!
