I have A 2000 road king the cam bearing went out at 25000 miles ( no help from harley thank you very much) we all know that story, anyway I had the engine rebuilt, I got it back last week And it has spit the dipstick out twice. it is building pressure in the case.duz anyone got any idea what is going on. it's going back tuesday, and I want a few opinions before I here there BS.
I could be way off here but this is a easy check, pull your air cleaner cover & filter (if stock set up) start the bike and see if the rocker box breathers are blowing out air like they should, I have seen where people have put to much thread locker or silicone sealer and blocked off the breather fittings in the rocker boxes, when those pistons come down that pressure has to go out somewhere, if it can't breath like it is supposed to through the rocker box, it could pressurise the oil tank and blow the dipstick out, I believe.
Thanks for the advice 62pan, I tuck off the air cleaner, put A hose on the nipple and blue, there clear. I'm afraid there's A problem with a ring or valve, but the thing runs good ?? I borrowed a buddy's dipstick to see how much oil I lost when the last dipstick left me, it was only down a quart so I'm ok there. but the oil is very dark after only 125 miles, makes me think I'm getting combustion gases in the case?

Thanks ajayrk, the oil pressure valve sounds possible.but the cam plate is new, duz it come with a new valve? I know it's not trash everything is new, crank rods cams pistons rings all bearings lifters rockers bored the jugs and re coned the heads ?? I don't know, maybe a defective valve ??

I've had my pressure relief stick before on mine and I did not blow the dip stick, lost oil pressure though. Do you have a compression or leak down tester. the fact your oil is so dark, something is not sealing properly combustion wise and your getting way to much crankcase pressure.
Thanks 62pan, I think your right, when I saw how dark the oil was after so few miles it kinda confirmed my suspicion there is a problem with the rings or the jugs. It's getting carbon in the oil. we'll see what the tec has to say tomorow. at least I have a better idea of whats going on. thanks again,
