Backfire

I have a 2012 softail slim with a big radius 2 into 2 and a power v commander with backfiring, is that normal?

No...you either have an exhaust leak, or wrong tune...time to troubleshoot. Did you use new exhaust gaskets & torque the exhaust flange bolts to spec..??

I did use the new gaskets, bit the power commander v was tuned from factory. Could the settings be off?

Backfiring, popping thru the exhaust are both signs of lean mixtures. Take it to a tuner, have it dialed in. Thats after you confirm intake and exhaust are truly sealed up.
Factory maps are only good to get close enough to run the engine, they need a dyno tune to adjust final settings Fastrider124
