After troubleshooting a draining battery issue, my brother-in-law noticed the stator plug clip was loose and probably was the reason the battery wasn't being charged. Whew, easy fix.
He tightens the bolt and it just keeps turning. Oh god, why?
Backs the bolt all the way out and the case threads come with it...
Any ideas how to address this without having to split the case to get a helicoil in there to re-thread the case?
We will try a longer bolt and hope there is enough purchase with the remaining threads (if they exist deeper than the original bolt).
Sorry, to clarify, there is a clip that keeps tension on the stator plug which keeps it from falling out/unplugging from the front of the crankcase. The clip had no tension and the plug was loose, which lead us to believe this was the cause of the battery not being recharged.
