The negative terminal on my battery has stripped. The bolt still tightens somewhat, but turns at the end of travel, so it's not in there solid.
Anyone know a good fix for this? Don't think it's giving me any trouble so far, but I'm having a "cough" in the 2000 to 3000 rpm range and just wonder if this could have something to do with it.
Hmmmmm. Assuming this is a HD battery? Might try the next larger metric or sae sized bolt. Or, maybe run a little JB Weld in the hole, wait until it is almost set, and "tap" it with the bolt. Then let it set-up overnight to harden. Used this trick on a plastic form once. If all that fails, maybe a brass insert in the battery would do it.
Wonderful, all good ideas. I had wondered about the JB Weld, but wasn't sure if it's conductive or not. Last thing I'd want to do is insulate the bolt!
Think I'll try upsizing the bolt first, and if that doesn't work maybe the JBW. Guess maybe a threadsert would work too, huh?
