89 xl 883 issues
Last season I was cruising along and the bike was running right. Thought I just needed to clear it out so I ran it at about 5k for a couple miles in top gear. After slowing down I noticed the bike running worse, then it died on me. Popped the clutch a couple times and limped it home. Try to start it, runs for a good minute but dies before it gets to idle. After it dies it will not restart and backfires with a flame out the exhaust after letting off the ignition. New NGK spark plugs, fresh fuel, new air filter.. wondering if I need a new ignition coil or if it's a carb air/fuel problem. Now the carb is leaking fuel from the overflow, repositioned the float according to manual specs (bottom of float ~.730" from float bowl mounting surf. while inverted) three different times (between .725 and .750) and still leaks. I just rebuilt the carb about a hundred miles before this issue started. 
What I'm ultimately trying to do is a 1200 swap but I want to get it running before I dump that kind of money into it. Anybody got any ideas or advice?
