2010 103 - 16,000 miles
Last year after changing to a quieter exhaust I realized I had excessive lifter noise in what seems like the front cylinder when cooled down.
The noise would be rattling and excessive valve train noise until oil got up and around approx. 1 minute.
With things actually cold now the noise lasts 2-3 minutes and then all is quiet.
Any suggestions on what brand lifters and push rods should I use??
I plan on using two piece push rods if that's advisable.
I am not worried about executing the work mechanically as I used to work on Mercedes, BMW, and a lot of other foreign cars but any hints or tricks will be welcome.
Woods Directional, Gaterman, HQ Black Ops are all good lifter replacement options. Smith Brother, S&S or HD Tapered Quick Install pushrods; you will need tubes, orings and clips as well.
I threw a set of S&S in mine just recently, I didn't trust the factory ones with my cams. I also run S&S standard adjustable push rods, they look more durable than the quickies
Check out my thread called: Thoughts on my DIY cam install (sorry not sure how to link it)
I have a good picture of a method to remove the push rod tube clips...really reduces the frustration of this job, and saves the knuckles...
