Looking to change the exhaust on my 2005 FLSTNI to a good 2-1. Th bike is an 88 with upgraded (96") cam plate, tensioners, chains, Andrews 48n cams.
Have done some research and narrowed the search a bit. I prefer chrome to black.
Bassani Road Rage seems to be popular these days, but they have had some fit and finish problems. I've seen 2 and the heat shields didn't fit right on either. That would drive me crazy.
Vance and Hines Pro Pipe. Lots of people like these. Good fit and finish and good power.
SuperTrapp Supermeg. Very loyal following, some adjustability good fit and finish...a bit pricey.
Rinehart 2-1. Havent seen or heard these, but love the Rinehart slip ons on my Roadking.
Interested in opinions of those using these systems to help me decide.
A D&D Fat Cat with a quiet baffle is hard to beat. The only problem with the Fat Cat is that it hangs low on Softtails. I wouldn't run it on a lowered bike especially if you pack a passenger, because it will drag if you ride aggressively. I run one on my Fat Boy, not lowered, and rarely pack anyone. It's only moderately loud, as good as it gets performance wise, fits like a glove, and no better chrome anywhere.
If you are looking for not too loud I'd recommend the SuperTrapp. It is by far the best out of those in my opinion. Tunable with discs. If you are looking for LOUD I'd opt for one of teh others because they are all louder than the SuperTrapp.
The Propipe is the best for your configuration; 88" with bolt in cam, no headwork. You don't want to "over exhaust" which would most likely be the case with Bassani. IMHO the Propipe would be the better choice over the RH. The Supertrapp is certainly a contender but, don't think you would see any gains that would justify the price premium with your motor setup. JMHO.
One you have misse is the Python 3 2:1 which is made by V&H for Drag Specialties; their "house" pipe. Same head pipe as the Propipe but with a slash cut muffler; also a bit cheaper than the Propipe.
