Default sensor placement

okay so i just put on my 'poor mans' screamin eagle air cleaner. you know, the one where you buy all the parts separate, actually get a k&n air filter and still manage to save about 50 bucks...... well, got one question. on the old ac backing plate there is a small 'titty' that a sensor mounts on to. but not on the se backing plate. so where do i mount this sensor? i didn't look it up in the book, but if you have a stock ac, it is mounted near the bottom middle. do i have to drill a hole in the se plate for this to mount? inquiring minds want to know.

btw, i tried to look it up in the archives, but no luck.

thanks for the info.

I installed the K&N 3909 on my bike. Using a hacksaw, I cut off the sensor mount from the stock AC backing, and JB welded it to the new backing. I understand that the sensor is not used domestic bikes, but it's nice to have it connected back into the same fitting that came with the stock backing.

thats an idea. thanks. i did some looking in the service manual and couldn't find it, but in looking at a wiring diagram in the parts manual, it appears to be the active intake connector. true that this is not used on domestic bikes. i suppose that i could just cut it off, but i'm reluctant to do that kind of stuff to a perfectly good wiring harness
