Hey, I am new to the forum, but have used it before and gotten good information. I have a 2006 softtail night train efi. Bought it with stage 1, swapped the exhaust for Bassani Pro streets and added a thunder max tuner. Otherwise all stock. My next move is cams. I am looking at S&S 583s or 585s. Not looking for a ton if top end horsepower but would like to get some good passing power. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks
We'll, mine is a 88cu in. Not saying that I can't get around anyone. I'm more or less trying to say that is where I would like to notice the added power from the cams. In a situation where I drop to fourth hear and crack the throttle. I know there is a wide range of cams for about any kind of application you want. Trying to better explain what I'm looking for.
the 583`s & 585`s are two VERY different cams as far as required compression & rpm power band.we use a lot of both and their very good cams for each given build.the 583`s should be set @ 9.8-1 and are a very good low TQ cam (good bagger cam)while the 585`s need 10.5-1 and are a higher rpm, more hot rod type cam profile.if your looking for some of both,go with the S&S .570 (witch we also use a lot),set @ 10.0-1.hits good from 1750 to 5500
Andrews 26H if only doing cams. Like Prodrag said but if you are gonna change the ratios or do head work....Nice thing about the 26H is the price is also good. I have it in my 07 and it's good for passing power... That's in a Bagger so imagine in a smaller bike it would haul ***.
Ya I dont plan on doing anything else besides the cams. I like the bike but plan on buying a street glide so I don't want to put a lot of money into this one. Looked at head work and changing the ratio but seems a little spendy. Near as I can tell my bike has a 8.9 to 1 ratio. Will Andrews 26H work with that?
