Default catalytic converters

I would like to remove the insides from the catalytic converter on my 2012 ultra. Any tips on the best way to do this? I have V&H monster ovals and would like to do a tuner and air cleaner but I want that junk out of the converter first.

Keep an open mind here since that is a $1000+ part, and someone may just tell you have to have it. It is a $10K fine for removing it. Search shows numerous ways however. Might want to get one off of Ebay and save original.

If you do a search on this forum, there are dozens of threads and advice on how to do this.
Anywhere from cutting an envelope, removing the material and re-welding, to using a long spade bit and grinding the material out.
You can also buy decatted pipes on ebay and keep your stock head pipe for later use in putting it back to stock.

I kept my stock system just in case .........Saved some money while I did an really good search of complete systems considering what I plan to do to the bike and made my purchase. I went with d and d 2 n 1 but I have a feeling fuelmoto might just have something you would really like. In fact I thing the offer some sort of power package that includes pipe, tuner, and air cleaner. Customer service is great
