I currently have K&N, V&H Sideshots and PCIII Programmer and love the setup. I am looking at adding the following:
R&R Cycles Cam Support Plate
Andrews 26G or 37G
Andrews Adj. Alum. Push Rods
S&S Gear Drive
I have done a lot of homework on both this site and others. If my plan goes right, I will first get all of the parts and have a local shop press the bearings and cams in the new cam plate. This should simplify and speed up the upgrade. Can anyone offer any suggestions to my plan and any opinions to the 26G or 37G cams?
You should also switch your inner cam bearings over to the torrington brand. They have a longer needle and will support your new cams better. If you decide to do this you will need a special puller to remove your existing needle bearings. Just a heads up. I had to order a puller from George's Garage so I could remove mine.
Id run the 37's since your notrunning a bagger. The lighter bike respond well to the 37s. The 26's pull harder right off the bottom but flatten out kinda early. The 37's keep right on going.
You may want to measure your crank run out before you buy a gear drive kit. There have been a few cases where the run out was beyond what was recommended for the gear drive.
