I have a 2012 road king, I decated the head pipe, did the AC and power commander from fuelmoto with a set of jackpot dynotuned mufflers with the mid range baffle. I plan on a cam upgrade sometime soon. Have not made up my mind on which one yet. The bike sounds good, has a rumble to it. Not quite as loud as I want. I am actually looking for the potato/potato sound if you know what I mean? I have heard the sound I am looking for on a TC96 but not on any of the TC103's. He was running a two inch exhaust. Don't know what brand. Thanks for any reply's.
You're NOT going to get the old "Potato Potato" sound on the new scooters. As far as a cam that will give you grunt and sound good you should try the SE-204 camshaft.
Thanks, that explains why I haven't heard it on any new bikes. Guess I'll have to live with it. I pull a trailer and sometimes ride two up but not real often. I had been looking at the andrews46 cam. I see you list a trailer. do you run the se-204?
You can get the sound you are looking for, by dropping the idle down to 750. This however will give you no oil pressure and your motor is not going to last long. you can get cams that are a little " lumpier" .Got that great sound on my shovel heads, but don't try it with your twin cam..
It's a shovel thing! They have very heavy flywheels and can run smoothly at lower rpms when ticking over. Evos have lighter flywheels and twincams even lighter ones. Correct tickover speed is essential to them all, to keep the crankshaft running smoothly, otherwise lower bearing damage can result.

I totally agree, I had a 2002 Fat Boy with carb, and that sounded good; the old "potato potato" sound.
My 2011 Ultra, being injected, sounds nothing like that, but I don't have to worry about air/fuel mix problem at higher elevations. Trade off, but I'm okay with it.
