Here are the torque instructions from the 2007 service manual for FXST/FLSTC/FXSTB/FXSTC bikes. Note thatTorque isin-lbs.

1. Tighten nuts at cylinder heads as follows:

a. Install upper nut and tighten finger tight.
b. Install lower nut and tighten to 9-18 in-lbs (1.0-2.0 Nm)
c. Tighten upper nut to 100-120 in-lbs (11.3-13.6 Nm)
d. Tighten lower nut to 100-120 in-lbs (11.3-13.6 Nm)

I also torque them and check the torque at least twice after an installation.

My pleasure. Glad it worked outfor you. I'm amazed that some peopleon this forumfind using a torque wrench an insult to their intelligence. Experienced mechanics might be able to get it close to spec, but I can't. I don't turn a wrench for a living, and I'm quite happy taking the time to do it right. Not too tight, not too loose. Oh,and never having to ask what to do about sheared bolt or stripped screw. Well, so far anyway. Cheers.

Was working on the exhaust tonight, and I don't know what it is, but all 4 flange nuts are stripping, and I can't get them off! How do I fix this?
