As I am working on my springer forks, I noticed that both rockers have an angle, or a bend on the small 'tab' - on the right in the attached picture.
I can't imagine the bend is from hard use, as these are strong castings.
If an angle is normal, I would think that left and right angles would be in the opposite direction.
Most parts lists I have show the same part number for both rockers. Does that mean they are the same exact part, or that you need to buy a 'set' because they are matched
after the war Samwell in Europe took the mantel to re produce parts for 45 machines and they copied everything - even the casting numbers
so having a 45 today the idea its all original is a goof - they were beat to death on the service of the war effort and Harley only had surpass military left scattered all over the globe
The book says one part number, so yeh no left or right. The only difference on mine is the zerk fitting to avoid the brake on the left side. Bushings can be replaced easy enough if you can get the rocker straightened out.
Thanks Bill!
That guy is pretty proud of those rockers. I have a pair of aftermarket rockers in the mail now.
We'll see what they look like and go from there.
