Alum head leakage
the machine shop recommended using it and doing it myself, said it’s better than Helicoil and as strong as Time sert.
I wonder has anyone out there tried using this?

You, or the shop should check that before replacing the current threads.
Here is a time-sert tool set that can be used to check and correct the angle.
- Put a little blue DYKEM around the plug hole.
- Run the first tool (guide) into the head until the threads are below the surface of the head.
- Slide the cutting tool down over the first tool
- Turn the cutting tool backwards/counter-clockwise, letting it scrape the surface and create a mark(s) in the blue. By turning it backwards, you aren't cutting into the head YET.
- How does the mark(s) look? If you see that the mark is significantly heavier in one area, you may have found the sealing issue
- With the correct size cutting tool, you should be able to turn it forward/clockwise to remove a bit of metal and create a fresh sealing surface.
