Default 1950 Frame ID?

Someone is selling a roller and calling it a 1950 FH. The pictures don’t show much, but I’m a novice. There are many frames on sale that say one thing but after further investigation, they are not what they say.

Here are pictures of a bike for sale and it’s supposedly a 1950 FH. Obviously the front end is modern, but can anyone ID the frame with the limited pictures below?

Let me know,

Thank You

Looks like a VL frame. If you have acces to the frame, there will be casting numbers near the steering head casting and rear of the frame where the axle goes through.

You might also post close up pictures of where the trans mounts and both sides of the steering head casting and frame where the axle goes through. You may need to lightly brush those areas to reveal markings to help identify it.

Thanks Paul, this frame is far away. I’ll ask for some casting numbers.

Can't see much of it but from what I can see it looks like a 48-55 big twin frame.

The seat post tube has been flattened and its missing the side car loops, and thats just after a 3 second look. I wouldn't buy it even for a bobber build.

The other frame is a 45 or something but not a big twin frame so I wouldnt bother with that one either.

I’m looking for a project but buying a complete bike to restore is impossible and even if I could find one, I couldn’t afford it. I was thinking that I should buy a frame and start with that, but the more I think about it, I think I should start with the engine and build around that.

Ive done a little homework and I know I don’t want a “G” service car motor. For some reason, there are a lot of these for sale.

There’s a nice 46WL on eBay, looks to be a good starting point. There appears to be either junk or a repair on the bottom of one of the cases. I think it’s junk, but I’d appreciate your expert opinion.

Thoughts on the cases?
