AdBlock Plus was a great ad blocker in the past...but it's code has grown bloated, and they've "whitelisted" too many advertising agencies that pay them to allow their ads to slip through.
The "new kid on the block" ad blocker that much of in the informed of the IT world are talking about and using, and liking much better, is uBlock Origin.
I highly recommend it...less ads, a little less memory use (although I don't care about that but some people using computers with less than optimal RAM...like under 8 gigs...can benefit from that).
