Getting a wee bit frustrated - have followed the HDF instructions for uplading an avatar - have resized my jpg file a number of times down to 145x145 and again to 100x100, yet every time I choose the picture and try to upload it for my avatar I get an "Error Saving To Disk" message and then have to cancel. Even chose one of the canned avatars (which works) thinking maybe I need to have one before it can be replaced. But no luck. I'm on a Mac using OSX 10.4.8 and have resized trying PhotoShop, PhotoStudio and Preview and always saved as a .jpg file. Always get the same error. All file sizes are around 8 to 16kb. Any ideas what I can try to do to solve this? Have a copy of a Dave Mann print I've been trying to use, but will try some other pics in case there's a problem in the file itself.
Either emailme Terry@hdforums.com or pm me the full size (or largest) picture of your avatar and I'll check it out for you. I can usually get them to install with no problems.
I have the one up and installed for you. I seem to be having problems with the other one. I can keep working on it if you like. Here is what I did. I resized both pictures to 100x100 and saved them in my pictures. I logged on as you and went to "My Profile" (yours) and clicked on the upload avatar. I broused and found my picture and uploaded it. When it said "Uploaded Successfully" I clicked OK (you have to do that) and then I scrolled to the bottom of the "My Profile" page and clicked OK or Apply (you have to do this to save the changes). After doing this I was not happy with the size of your avatar so I changed it to 120x120. Sometimes that will work and sometimes it won't. It depends on the quality of the picture.
Thanks so much, that Tom Frita one will be fine. I was just about to trying working on that one myself when you first emailed me - suspect a problem in the file or the odd dimensions of the Dave Mann pic must've been responsible for the error.
Glad you like it. I thought both pictures were pretty cool but this one is just more interesting. If you need help with anything else just give me a shout.
