HDForums is using a new photo uploader. Here's a short "How to" insert an image into a post:
1. Click the Insert Image button
. Now the "Upload Images" screen opens:
2. This screen gives you 4 options:
a. Drag and drop pictures from your computer
b. Add an image from your Personal Album
c. Select an image by browsing to an image file on your computer
d. Paste a "direct link" picture URL from an online Photo Album like Photobucket
Pick an option, select the image and the Upload message comes up:
3. Once the "Upload Images" screen shows your image, click "Insert" and the image will be inserted into your post.

Yeah, thanks. Its terrible. A step backwards- slow and difficult to use. Just my .02!
i think it has to do with allowing advertising on the images, if you are not a member.
I saw that doing research on another forum, alittle banner across the bottom of each pic
yeah, i just typed IMG myself, it looked so confusing.
I was not able to find the option to have the picture be displayed as a large image coming from a sharing site. All the options I can find try to upload the image, which is of course different. And not what most people want to do or see.

Go to your UserCP, click Edit Options, scroll down and check if the settings of the Image Resizer are set like this:
If not, adjust, scroll further down and click Save Changes.
BTW: the image above was inserted into this post by
making a screen print from my personal settings;
I pasted the screenprint in to Microsost Paintad and adjusted the format in Microsoft Paint;
copied the image and pasted it into the URL bar of the Image Uploader.
It's that simple!

Thanks, I'll try that - sorry if I'm whining about what is really a free resource, its just a bit puzzling because even with the corrections, its more cumbersome and slower, and if I'm not mistaken [please correct me if I'm wrong), this new method in fact uploads the image to the hdforums servers vs the [IMG] approach which just renders it from the source site, so it seems like the forum owners are needlessly taking on storage cost, but hey, not my call!

According to the image link properties, the images are stored at ibsrv.net...
With this new method I hope this kind of bandwidth messages (see image below) are history:
