I recently bought this bike and haven't rode it much yet. I attempted to see how fast it would go the other day. I got up to 85-90 and it the handlebar slowly started to move side to side, gradually getting more rapid, had to back off to get it to stop. It has a windshield, which I thought this might be causing it. I took it off and found it didn't start happening until I got over 90,but it's still there.
I checked the steering bearings, adjusted some and corrected rear wheel alignment. Didn't notice any real help.
I don't know if this is what you all call tank slapping. I dont have any vibration. It seems more like a turbulance issue. Wondered if you had any experiences like this and any possible solutions, other than don't go that fast! Tom[sm=feedback.gif]
first off 21" tires are not all that stable at high speeds.
i would pull it off and check the wheel bearings and have
it trued and balanced. spoked wheels get out of round
with age and road abuse. replace your riser rubber
grommets in the tripple trees with new aftermarket ones.
you mite even want to look at the bearings in the steering
head. repack with syn grease. hi speed wobbles are no joke.
sometimes what appers to be a front end prob starts at
the rear. i would also check out the swingarm bearings
and wheel and tire.
