Polished rotor/brake pad compatability

Polished rotor/brake pad compatability
I finally managed to find a discontinued polished rear rotor for the Sportster, now I just need to buy the front rotor.
Question I have is, the instructions that came with the polished rotor state they MUST be used with original equipment pads, or it could damage or shorten the life of the rotor.
I already have a set of Lyndall Z+ pads on the rear, and planned on using them on the front when I mount up the new rotor. Will running these pads actually damage the polished rotors, or is it just a way for HD to sell more OEM parts?
