Default Nail in tire

My girlfriends bike picked up a nail in the rear tire. I KNOW YOU SHOULD NEVER PLUG A TIRE, but this is a tire with a tube in it and it has lost NO air. I believe the nail did not penetrate the tube. I am inclined to pull the nail out and if no air is lost, maybe continue using the tire. Give me your thoughts please. ( I love this woman dearly and would not want to risk any harm to her!!!!

I was hoping that the nail was just a short tac and didn't puncture the tube, but as it turned out the nail was 2.5 inches long. As soon as I yanked it out, the air started puking thru the hole. I got the wheel off this morning and will go get a new tire and tube as soon as the dealer opens.

Good move. Lots of people will patch a motorcycle tire. But I will never rely on it. Just not worth the risk IMO. When I am riding along at 80mph on the big slab I don't want to be thinking about a tire patch.
