I am wondering what would be a fair price to powder coat these: Stock Harley Image
I have them on order, should arrive late next week. Before I go to a local powder-coater. I would like to hear from some here in the business. I do not want to be taken on such a small part. I will pay fair value for work rendered. I am going with a basic black to match my frame.
get a P/C gun from eastwood co.,there about 125.00.get a junk oven(electric)and do it yourself.we`ve got the set up,have done motors in factory black wrinke to candy colors, nothin to it,very easy
Thanks for the response. The parts are already chromed. That brings in to the picture a purchase of a abrasive blast cabinet w/ equipment, or muriatic acid tank, powder coating gun, used oven, and finally disposal of waste (acid). That is off the top of my head $250 to $300 in equipment(maybe a little less):
70.00 for the powder gun
135.00 for the cabinet
50 to 100.00 for a used oven
20.00 to 70.00 on blasting gun
As doing it myself is fantastic. I would love to do this. To have the tools on hand would be awesome and for the future I would break even or maybe profit. It is not a viable option with the economy as it is that money would be better spent on items for my family.
I am simply asking the question in advance, to get an idea, what I might be spending to powder coat these items black. These are relatively small parts. But I could very well be wrong. If it is too much, I will leave them chrome and do it at a more convenient time when I have extra money. If I am willing to even pay that unknown amount. I digress. I am trying to do some homework on something I know nothing about.
I am attempting to project, what one might here, a person whom specializes in powder coating, would think this project might cost in a shop. I have a week or more to do some homework until the parts arrive. This may very well save me time in the matter, or may give me some leverage in the deal as I do not know what is fair or not. It may even lead to me out sourcing to someone here and pay shipping versus going local. I have never had anything powder coated. Truly this is a want, not a need and I am hoping it is affordable.
we would be about 40 - 50 for all the parts, that is blasted, coated and shipped
JRK, I was hoping you'd chime in. I have seen your work and love the detail. I just could not remember you signon. If locally, the place I go to is too high, can I ship it to you?
