Default Installing switch covers

Well, the rookie is at it. Love those chrome switch covers and purchaed a set yesterday for my Fat Boy. In reading the instructions I see you have to cut a wire tie and stuff and although I am reasonably handy and careful I want to avoid taking on a job that could foul up. Could one of you journeymen tell me how difficult a task replacing the swith covers is? No cruise control or other complications and its a 2005 Fat Boy. Thanks to a great group. Ed

It's mostly time consuming and straight foward. Allow some extra time and don't rush anything. Just re route the wires as they are from the factory and don't force anything to fit if it doesn't. Check out the threads in the chrome parts first by running a bolt into them to clear out any chrome in them. If you do the chorme lower sections watch out for the brass barrels on the throttle cable ends, they drop and roll quite well Also make sure to not mix the brake fluids for your application

Take your time and don't loose any parts

I installed the chrome switch covers on my EG, I didn't have to cut ANYTHING...what do you have to cut?

Thanks guys. I thought I read that the wires are bundled like tied together and they give you a new tie; thought that was to replace on that you had to cut. The pictures in the instructions suck and its hard to get any help from them. I will proceed slowly. Thanks again, Ed

Ed,

I stand corrected, when I said ANYTHING, I should have said ANY WIRES. You do have to cut the straps inside there, and there are replacement ones for the new ones. It was pretty easy, like you said, I took it slow, and I experienced no difficulties. I was very careful putting the covers back on the bars as well, ensure you have no wires pinched...
