Sorry, I didnt start off with better pictures.
I ended up putting a 1/4-28 tap through it.. im not exactly sure if thats what it was but thats what it is now.
I do like the idea of putting the riv nut through there next time the only issue is when I drill it out. Id also have to get in there and grind off the nut. Thats welded to it. I dont know maybe the next time I have the tire off Ill do something about it, but I should be good for now . I just wish I went over all this stuff myself before it went to paint. You cant rely on anybody to do anything.
from here on out with the exception of paint, Im never letting anybody work on one of my bikes again. its less frustrating to just do it myself at my own pace.
at least if I mess something up, I could live with it. Paying somebody else to do it makes me angry.
Especially when they Do Not Know what fasteners go where!! It is actually not at all difficult to find the specs of Harley Fasteners!!!
My 1991 Sporty just has threaded insert that is part of the fender, no removable fancy insert that the modern bikes have. Run a tap through it and be done.
I concede 1/4x28 on early models pre 1997 1/4x20 after that.
My '94 (last production) is Identical to my '82 (first Production).. Absolutely Interchangeable...
Don't Know Nuthin of FXR's after Last Production...Maybe those CVO models are different..
