Default 1993 FXRS-Convertible

This is a 1993 fxrs-convertible that I recently acquired. Nearly completely stock except for the lower progressives on the rear and the exhaust slip ons. Has factory air on the front end. It came with the removable windshield, original 12" shocks (which I plan to put back on), original mufflers and the saddlebags with hardware. Keeping this bike close to stock as thats how it should be with survivors like this. The low progressives in the rear prevent using the saddlebags as the right side would burn up on the exhaust. A question I have is would 13 or 14" shocks keep the bags off the exhaust better than the 12"? Would the ride and handling be better with the 13 or14"?

All I can add is that lowered shocks in the rear on my ’85 rode like a brick, unless I was riding two up. I can’t tell you who made them, as I installed them in probably ’88.

Go with the 13 inch,
When I got my 93 the third thing I did was install 13s. The shorter shocks were almost like having struts.

I was mistaken when I said the original shocks that came with the bike in a box were 12.5". Actually they are 14" so Im planning on using them.

Till Bottom...yes agreed
I will also Interject, that in my feeble mind, the angle of the Shock (mounting) matters ..looking at difference in Shock mount from original Engineers, to the Willie G versions Later.. It simply has to change things!!!

Replaced the INA cam bearing with a Koyo (Torrington) bearing and added an Andrews EV27 cam.
