Ask yourself this;does your dealer stand to profit from his recommendation?'Nuff said.
One would hope so. Few stay in business for very long without such a view on each product or service they offer. Most better businesses know a product or service that does not earn its keep will soon be heading for the dumpster.
Taken to the extreme, the business itself will be heading for the dumpster...
I might want to add that the airplanes I fly are parked longer than they are running. Never use any additives. Again, use of top tier fuel is all you need.
just another way to take your money!!! Really, I use stabil when I store each winter. And as Michigan does not require posting of how much crap is put in fuel, i've been thinking i should probably start adding to my fuel all summer long. So.... I need to look and choose, and spend the money for some!!!
So Mr. GoldEagle, what do you recommend?? will marine grade be ok to use? or should we avoid that because it's not a marine application? Storage grade or something else? Would there be a difference in what I use for summer vs. winter? Will one grade be good year round? This is really something I have thought about, and something I should do.
Any input would be great!!! Thank you!!!
I just fill with alcohol free gas when I can get it, and don't worry about it. Only had a problem once - when I tried Stabil in one bike and a lawn mower. Did it per instructions, and had to drain and clean both tanks and pull both carbs and go through them, just full of gelled crud. Bad batch of Stabil or bad gas? The remaining (most of the bottle) Stabil was a mess in the bottle come spring, too. I have had bikes I didn't ride that year, drained the gas in spring, put it in the car, and fresh gas in the bike. I've had them sit 6 to 8 months and fire right up with no problems on the old gas. Had a car once that was so little used the gas was a couple years old before getting some more, ran fine. Gas gets stinky when it gets old, but still works fine in my experience.
I read about folks using fuel stabilizers, but haven't read anything about people having problems when they didn't use any - any bad experiences here with just plain gas?
I use non-oxigenated gas and do not add anything to the tank, just fill it and store it. Same thing with my boat and after 18 months of sitting it ran just as good as it did when I put it away.

Just another elixir that you can give your bike to make you feel better. If you got the dough and don't mind blowing money, then you should do the stabilizer crap. Along the lines of paying 3x more for synthetic oil, which your bike doesn't need either.
