Default Motorcycle Stolen 27 Years Ago Found Unassembled in Basement

Motorcycle Stolen 27 Years Ago Found Unassembled in Basement - How do you get away with stealing a new motorcycle? Disassemble it. Put the parts in three crates and store them in the basement of someone else’s house, never to be seen again. That’s what the Northern Illinois Auto Theft Task Force said Darcy L. Corbin, 55, of Loves Park, did 27 years ago with a then-new 1980 Harley-Davidson.

Prosecution? After 27 years for a theft? I would think the statute of limitations wouldn't allow prosecution after 27years.

Bought it at $6800 in the 80s and now is going to be valued around $7000. How is that appreciation?

If something goes up in value that is appreciation. If it goes down in value that is depreciation.

Because it is worth more now.

They probably can't prosecute for the actual theft, but since he is still in possesion of it, he is still in the act of committing a crime.
