$7500 down on a $20,000 bike @ 7% from Harley Davidson. They beat the best rate I could find at a bank, including the bank I've done business with for nearly 20 years.
Ummmmm, Ny son who is 18 and does not have ANY credit, was approved through Eagles Mark (HD) for a used 1200 C ... He only had a part timr job at the time. Open loan, 5 year term, can pay off early.
I was kinda in a hurry and not willing to go back and forth between the dealer and my bank tho - otherwise I would have gotten just under 6 there with 5K down.
<-- platinum credit rating
Alias, Bush pat a law October 2005 saying you can't claim bankruptcy if you make more than $35,000. Well there is some ways around it but it is much harder now.

True story. I almost got screwed. When I went to do the paperwork on my bike, the lady said let's do insurance 1st so when we are done your cards will be here. I said OK. Set up the insurance without shopping around. I was too excited, this was my 1st bike. I got a crazy insurance rate. Then when it came to financing HD offered me 14% and I have a score over 800.I told her I didn't want to use them. It was 7:30 and they had closed 30 minutes ago. They had to push the bike back inside and the employees were mad they waited for nothing. I was mad cause I had to leave the bike. Then it hit me, I have insurance and no bike. I want to stop insurance processing. If I can't beat 14% I'm not buying a bike. We can't stop processing. I told her you can't make me have insurance on something I don't own. Let me talk to the insurance company. I stopped processing. Went home and got a 6.5% rate and found insurance for 50% less. The next day I saw the finance lady and she was bitter. I had a grin from ear to ear and kept talking loud to the other customers about how they should check other financing places.
I saw the paper work on 1 person who was getting a 21% rate. He had poor credit and really wanted a bike. []
these motorcycles will make you do crazy things 21 percent is outrageous. I almost got my first bike last year when harley ran their promotion, luckily i put it off got 5.9 percent through the credit union and found a great deal on a 04 1200 custom privately. booyah
