I was around 645 Beacon score when I walked into the dealership in November. I was told I was approved for anything they had with nothing down. I was expecting a good a$$ ramming when I sat down to do the deal but got an 8 percent rate. They even knocked half off the dealer/freight and setup charges. Of course I paid full MSRP but I felt pretty good about the deal all things considered.
I got 6% on mine, I am making my first payment in about 2 weeks. My car will be paid off at the end of this year so than I will just have the bike paymet. Still my bike and car payments combined at only $355, that's most people's car payments alone. I would never get a loan through a dealership of any kind. Become a credit union member, Most only require a $5 membership fee and they treat you very well.
All you guys with high credit scores and getting double digit rates from the dealership should shop at another dealer. I have a credit score north of 750. My dealer gave me 8% 0 down on anything I wanted. This was in January. My credit union is getting increasingly a PIA to deal with. I'm a small business owner and although I make over 150K for the last 5 years they want all current info on the business before approval. I've an extensive credit history with them for over 10 years. My last car is financed through GMAC and the bike thru HD. In both cases I got a better rate than I would have gotten with the CU. So if the dealer is giving you a high rate and you have good credit (700+) then they are a stealer and you should go else where.
Jimbo,Millions of people did it.Hmmmmm...Sign a piece of paper giving away your debt of $80,000 and being debt free??? Now I make over $90,000with no bills except a car and bike payment? Don't get me wrong I hated the scumbags that did it every 7 years while I paid my bills. But when Bush was passing the law I said....Hey what the heck. I am smiling on my new Fat Boy everyday!!!
