Sounds to me like that helmet probably doesn't fit too well. Yeah, it will be hot on a hot day. But if your getting a headache you need a helmet that fits better.
I subscribe to the belief, if it's too hot to wear the right gear, it's too hot to ride. But hey, it's your mellon. Do what you want.
Florida has addressed the arguement "taxpayers will have to pay your medical bills if you crash without a helmet" BS argument by requiring additional insurance to cover costs if a rider crashes. Is this insurance expensive?

That's how I think too! If it's that hot I rather wait till the evening than ride without gear.
I ride when it is hot, when it is cold, raining, whatever.... always with a helmet. Whaap said it well... Good helmets are generally less hot, vent better and are lighter. Get a carbonfiber.com shorty and you will not sweat, get a headache, neckache, or whatever any more than you would without.
Yes, the insurance minimum in FL is $10,000 personal heath. It is a secondary infraction. They cannot pull you over to check it, but if you are stopped for something and they ask for proof of ins, and you have less than that, it is a fairly hefty fine.
It more than doubles your insurance rate [:-].......$1,500-$2,000
