Got caught in it yesterday in cenpen. Rode to work cause afternoon temps were supposed to be 40. Was raining at quitting time but thought I was still good. Wrong. Temps bottomed out and roads and bridges were froze. Nursed it home in 1st and 2nd gears. I don't recommend. Lol. Ever happened to anyone else?
I always check forecast on three to four different sources. The one that is 99 percent wrong all the time was 100 percent right on this one. But all were wrong on temp. If temp wouldn't have dropped I would have been cold wet and just fine. Lol.
Never caught in freezing rain, but when I was in high school, I rode to school on a nice day in April. I was riding an enduro (now called dual-sport) at the time.
We wound up getting about 4" of snow that afternoon. I had to ride home in the middle of it, and we lived several miles out of town. I rode through town on the unplowed streets, which was a little nerve wracking, until I got to a railroad crossing. From there, I took the dirt service road next to the tracks the rest of the way home. It was a trail that I had ridden with my friends dozens of times, and I felt safer riding on a snowy trail than on snowy roads. I had more fun than I could have had on the roads, too!
