Best Non-Heated m/c Gloves For 30F and Below
I ride year round so in my neck of the woods, that means occasional light snow, and evening & early morning temperatures that get in the 20F-30F range and that's the ambient temperature before getting on the bike...
So I am after some first hand experience recommendations on any non-heated gloves that will suffice. Please don't point me to some link elsewhere, I have been through no shortage of ambiguous information already trying to go that route on this site and elsewhere.
I like the Harley gloves, but going through the main h-d site, I don't see anything non-heated that looks like it will work for a true all weather winter glove good for snow, rain, wind and cold in the 20F-30F range...
The folks at the h-d dealers are no more helpful, some tell me the FXRG are the all-weather winter gloves, but the labels on the gloves & the description on the h-d web site don't say squat about wind or snow, etc., with respect to the FXRG's.
At this point I don't care what they cost only that they actually do the job...
thanks in advance.
I tried several different makes of gloves, and even tried silk liners, freeze out liners, but after any extended ride in 40 degree or less temperatures, my hands ended up getting painfully cold. With heated gear, a full face helmet, and a good pair of insulated jeans I no longer worry about riding in the cold.

For that temperature range you need a winter glove. Windproof is necessary as well. For snow or rain you need a waterproof glove.
Although, I don't ride in those conditions here in Texas, I use this winter glove that is lined, waterproof and windproof. It is warm, but, I have only used them in temperatures over 40F. For additional warmth you could also use the fleece glove liners. I know you didn't want links, but, it is the only way to direct you to them.

I can't imagine that any non-heated gear will keep you warm enough in those temperatures and conditions. If you ride that often in those conditions, you my want to consider heated gear. Good luck.

And the staff at the dealer was not of much help either in this respect...
Because it has been progressively getting below 40 at night & in am when I am doing my hour long commute, I bought a pair of gloves yesterday afternoon from the h-d dealer, after they told me I had a year to bring them back no questions asked...
The pair I decided to try can be seen at the h-d site:
98158-95VM Men's Windshielder Gauntlet Gloves
http://www.harley-davidson.com/store...auntlet-gloves
Note Website says Features:
Waterproof No
Windproof Yes
Water Resistant No
Yet the label that I scanned & attached clearly shows icons representing snow & wind, (snow 1st icon from left, wind 3rd icon from left) other pairs had icons showing an umbrella representing water resistant for example...
last night it was 37F on the commute in and this am it was 30F on the commute home.
using the motorcycle wind chill calculator at:
Wind Chill Calculator for Motorcycle Riders
http://ridemyown.com/windchill.shtml
my 37F degree ambient temperature ride at 65 miles an hour was a 20F ride.
and my 30F degree ambient temperature ride at 65 miles an hour was a 10F ride.
In both cases, the H-D 98158-95VM Men's Windshielder Gauntlet Gloves were awesome & I did not notice the cold at all.
by the end of the week its supposed to hit mid 20's Fahrenheit ambient, so I'll have to see how they hold up under that, I'll post my experience with that come Friday or Saturday, see IF I'm going to have to go with some heated ones or not.
I'm riding a heritage springer softail with the big clear windshield on it, but my hands are totally in the wind, so I think my hour long commutes in the temperatures I have itemized thus far are a reasonable bench mark to assess the effectiveness of these gloves...
IF they are still working good by the end of the week when its in the mid 20's maybe I'll take a 2-3 hour ride on Sunday and see how they hold up for intervals longer than an hour.
