I have been eading these forums for quite a few hours and haven't seen any recent information and nothing regarding my question.
Has anyone else had the pronlem of the chin strap actually being a throat strap?
In addition to all the other fitment problems I'm having, the last couple lids I've purchased online, come in and they are choking the crap out of me, to the point that I can't even look down when wearing them.
does anyone know of a half helmet that has a more forward chin strap and is also on the low profile side?
I don't think you actually wrote what helmets you've had issues with.....
I've got an AK-88 and a Bell Pit-Bull and had no "choking issues" with either..
Helmets are usually best to try on for fitment, but in some cases like the AK-88, online is really the only way to go unless you have a buddy that has one and doesn't mind your head in his lid.... with the Bell Pit-Bull, it has a retention strap in the back which is a nice feature as it keeps the helmet from flipping back and makes the helmet adjustable to fit a number of noggin's
Are you looking for DOT or non DOT? I had a "Polo" style that did choke me when I was riding without a windshield on my Dyna. I found a helmet (non-DOT) that had the dual attachment points (on each side) to the helmet that helped out a lot. No tags on the helmet so I have no idea who makes it.
I'm surprised that helmet manufacturers don't offer helmets with a chin cup style strap. After all it's a chin strap, not a neck strap. Chin cups would also be more comfortable.
Ive found that during the winter months while Im eating tons of pumpkin pie, stuffing, chocolate cake, mashed potatoes and double buttered pancakes, my chin strap always seems to pinch. In the warmer months when Im "tank top" conscious, it is less bothersome. My suggestion would be to exercise.
