A vent, or a stand-off like a Madstad, eliminates the low-pressure area behind the windshield dramatically reducing buffeting and head-toss. Makes the ride much quieter too.
yes. vented will give you the option to use the vent open or closed.
Having it closed is your basic shield. Hot days having it open gives a nice wind direct but still having the protection of a shield. I recommend it and have one.
A few years back I had a shield that was damaged. I bought a replacement from clearview. Thought a vented type sounds good. It gave me not enough air to do any good as well as causing the shield to flex. The buffeting from air around the top changed not at all open or closed so that was a wash. I'd just get a regular shield if I needed to replace it.
I remember my old WindJammers had vents in them... but I really couldn't feel much diff when I opened them and I never got much Buffering on the GW's I had..
Also they had built in lowers which is what the reason they sell the FANGS for...
I just got some Fangs for Christmas, lots of good reviews on them.. Also got a new HD shield..
So I may put the Fangs on,, then I may drill some holes in the old shield just to see if they make any diff..
but its going to have get above 30 and all the snow and ice melt off before I do that..
it is a 2014 superlow 1200t sportster. it has a stock 14" that came with it. my wife said on highway riding it had to much flow over the top for her. clearview has a 18" recurve we are considering. just did'nt know about the vent.
