OP you need to ge t ahold of the estste first. If you dont have any paper work that shows you have moneys paid into this you are shitt out of luck, they can come and take what ever parts you have and you and LEO are going to have some time talking.
IF the op is an honest and upright guy. I feel for ya,, all you wanted was to buy a engine for cheap and build a bike... Now it a total ahshibumfukuwich..

gotta agree with this. unless you have a written agreement with paper work showing you paid money the estate is not gonna give a damn. this whole deal smells pretty fishy.
In Oklahoma I think you would do a title 42 to get the ball rolling. You would fill out all the paperwork, claiming the work and storage. Lienholders then either work with you or not. Too many variables to cover here.
I have done this on old car bodies in the past (hot rod project cars), but its my understanding that the laws have changed a bit. Go down to your local tag agency, pay the $1 for the title search, and pick up the title 42 paperwork. Or tell the lienholder to come and get it.

Short story is your hosed for whatever money you have into it unless you pay off the lien. Only other option you have is breaking it all down and the next swap meet minus the cases to get rid of things to recoup what little you can , unless you've some background with such things I wouldn't try .......
I have never heard of those type of shenanigans, who would ever consider that?
Guys, filing a mechanic lien is fine, IF you are a licencened repair shop and you did do work that the deceased ask for, otherwise it is considered fraud.
I believe the OP said he was making payments on a bike,(see post #5) not just the engine or trans. In any event, with your powers of deduction would you mind taking a look at this bump on my ankle?
sorry to tell you, it's bad. you've only got 6 months. can i have your bike?

Sorry, once I'm gone it appears the proper course will be for you to remove the engine and dispose of the rest of the bike. Good news is there's still time to get an answer via this thread as to how to proceed from there.
