im sure everyone has seen this question before but I want to know for sure what was the last year for shovelheads

84 was the official last year for civilian bikes, but 1985 for police bikes.

1984 was the last year shovel. 1984 1/2 was the 1st yr evo...

A few years back, a member on these boards posted a few pics of this '85 FLH he had recently picked up. It's a nearly perfect example. Hard to believe on some models, the MoCo was still using the banana caliper. At this stage in the game, they were using up all the old parts they had on the shelves.

84 was the first year for the Softail and the EVO engine. If I remember right the Wide Glide still had the Shovel and kick start in 84. The early EVO's were kind of a mix match with the lower end of a Shovel and the top end was EVO. And, I believe the Wide Glide still had a chain and maybe even the Softail. I cannot remember for sure when they went to belts but it was pretty close in there somewhere.
