If you want to stay true to the story, the bell needs to hang somewhere that the gremlins it lures will fall onto the road and not back onto the bike.
I didn't follow that rule exactly; I hung mine under my headlamp, over my front fender. When I had my wreck in July, the entire front end was destroyed but the bell came out without a scratch. Make of that what you will.
On the bottom of my engine guard. I just so happened to get two bells recently and need to find a place to put the second one. Maybe I'll try to find a place on the back of my bike frame or sWingarm and have both ends "covered". lol
Mine is in the night stand in my bedroom, I took it off when doing repairs after I hit a deer.
