I've been contemplating getting a set of glasses that have the Light Adjusting feature and thought I had decided on the Panoptx brand until I ran across these.

I was looking to get some input from those of you who have the Wiley-X glasses with this feature and also which model you have. After viewing their site I see a number of the models have this type of lense. Some have metal frames with magnetic foam inserts, others are plastic frames with replacable foam, while other just have the foam glued to the frames.

How dark do the lenses actually get in bright sunlight and how clear do they get at night?

Thanks much,
Brian

Brian, I highly recomend you going with the Wiley x sg-1 model. The frame is designed to hold and form to most face types. The sg-1 is the military issue because it was the most form fitting glass that they make. The sg-1 starts with what they call 12% tint so in the daylight it gets pretty dark. You have the option of going as a goggle or a sunglass too, thats a plus as well.
Let me know if you would like to try a set out and Ill be glad to work with.

My son has the Wiley X and he wore them every day for a year in Iraq. He said he would of been lost without them. They survived his first tour in 100+ heat and blowing sand and his eyes stayed clean and focused. I have nothing but good to say about a product that works that good to help our Military. I can't speak for how well they would work for you just providing you with what I know, Which usually isn't much THX mojo

I'm a contact lens wearer and I'd be lost without my Panoptx. I have 3 pair. I tried a pair of Wiley X's on but they seemed like they would let more air in then the Panoptx pair but if you don't wear contacts and your eyes aren't that sensitive, that probably won't be a problem. Also, it may have just been the style I was trying on.

The foam started deteriorating within 2 months
My first pair did the same thing. However, Panoptx has changed the foam they use and that is no longer a problem. I even sent that pair back to the company and they replaced the old foam with the new, for no charge.

Check out Panoptx's Clearance Glasses. I saw a pair of Gust Lite glasses with day/night len's at my local Harley dealer for $180. They were on clearance and I snagged them for $69.99 (plus shipping).

However, I do agree with the post from above, the day/night lenses never get dark enough on bright, sunny days. I talked to a Panoptx rep and he told me to put them in the freezer overnight to revive them but that didn't seem to help.

I ended up going with the Wiley-X XL-3 LA goggles and they seem to be very well made. I went with that model due to the specs stated on their site in regards to the size. Even though they are one of their smaller models they still don't fit too well at the temple area. The foam doesn't make full contact around the entire eye. However, being a metal frame, I could probably "tweak" them to make them fit.

The biggest thing I wasn't too impressed with is that they just don't get very dark even in bright sunlight. I sat them on the bike seat in bright sun for about 15 minutes and they only became a slightly darker gray - not near as dark as standard sunglasses.

I imagine I'll stick with my Harley goggles for now until I find something better. I guess there are some things you should wait until you can actual put your hands on and try out before buying them online.

Hello,

I have two pairs of Wiley-Xs.

My first pair are the Light-Adjusting. They're great!

I ended up buying another set of Wiley-x's that have the interchangeable lenses.
(I was looking for a darker set of lenses, and the set came with 1) Clear 2) Blue 3) Red 4) Gray lenses.

I generally use the second pair, but use the LA set when I'm unsure about how long I'm going to be.

I don't think that you can go wrong with the Wiley-X product, but try them on first.
