Default Shifter question

Hey everyone.

I was riding home tonight and everything was fine. I got off the freeway and started downshifting and it felt like the heel shifter was sitting a little higher than normal, but I thought it was just me and kept going. A few lights down the road, the shifter flopped forward to where the toe shifter was now even with the floor board and I couldn't shift up or down, the shifter would just wobble like it wasn't connected to the transmission (but it is obviously). I was also now stuck in third. I rode it home in third and took a look. The shifter feels like it's connected to the transmission again, but won't shift up or down and it's sitting at a forward angle to where the toe shifter is even with the floor board and the heel shifter is popped into the air.

Anybody have an idea what's going on or how to fix it?

Quick update. It appears it's not the transmission (thank God!!), but somewhere where the shifter runs through the mount. Maybe a broken pin of some sort? I've never taken it off, so I don't know exactly how the shifter runs through the mount to connect to the linkage, but I think that's where the problem is.

Thanks! I think that's what it is.

One possible cause could be the pinch screw on the shifter rod lever has come loose and it has slipped on it's splines. Being a new bike, probably a warranty issue if you can get it to them. Good luck.

That screw was stripped and so was the shift shaft. I just got back from picking up the parts. I didn't even think of asking if it was covered under warranty...that would have been smart.

It cost me $20.61 for a new shaft and that pinch screw. Still glad it wasn't something with the tranny! Time to go put it on. Thanks, guys, for the feedback!
