Had several pairs of Harley boots all were heavy to walk around but since last couple years been wearing Bates tactile sports boots light weight decent grip and protection easy to walk around no need to carry extra pair of walking shoes.
Well...because almost everyone in the entire world obviously knows HD isn't making all the lifestyle crap. It's almost entirely outsourced.
So why wouldn't you just buy it from that company in the first place? At least their non branded version. And avoid the HD markup?
If it's good enough to spend the money on, then why worry about the HD brand?
If it's not good enough, then why would you pay for it even if it had the HD brand?
I don't see the need to advertise for the company that made my motorcycle any more than riding the bike itself already does. And I really don't define my life by it or want the logo plastered all over me (unless they start paying me loads of money).
Your argument was not buying boots from a motorcycle manufacturer. That's why I was saying they do not manufacture the boots.
Some of the styles are not available unless you but the HD branded items. Then of course if you like the HD logo...
All the other companies have their logos plastered all over those items also. I bet most of those other things you wear have some sort of logo on them. Does your Alpinestars gear have a large letter A with a star.....? Are they paying you "loads of money" ???

:-) No large Astar logos. I only buy kit from them with discrete black on black logos. I don't like all the colourful big logo stuff. I couldn't get summer gloves from them without a white logo though - so they got treated to black marker pen and spray paint.
But on HD boots, my point is that you can get a better boot for less money if you buy directly from a boot manufacturer rather than through HD who add mark up and a logo. Same for almost any bit of specialised kit.
But if you can only get the style you want from HD, and are happy with price and quality, then go for it.
Carolina for me with sole insert. I've worn frye and many redwings, but the last 6-7 yrs or so I've had inserts, and carolinas work the best for me now. I also have one of those gerber (not gerbing) multi-tools. Very handy at times.

I wear zip side "tactical" boots. Mainly because they're probably half a pound lighter (each) than the Harley boots I got for Christmas one year. They're disposable though, you can't resole them. I'd like to get a pair of red wing lineman's boots but at $450 I can't justify it for riding boots.
