Interesting. I'll see if I can find mine. My ff helmet saved my cheek and eye socket from major damage.

As a friend of mine said. "Live for the ride. Dress for the slide."

Not disputing the benefits of wearing a helmet in a crash, but this

looks, and the story smells, a lot like BS to me. Just saying

I wore a spot like that on an old fiberglass Air Force helmet decades ago, not that big, only about 3" across, but it was smooth like that. I've had some really hard impacts off road and put deep scratches and dents in helmets without ever getting hurt (head, anyway), so I know they can work. At speed on the highway, they won't save you from everything; hit hard enough and your brain tears loose in your skull, end game. Found that out when a friend's pretty young girlfriend was launched over him, the car he hit, and came down headfirst at around 80mph. Never woke up. Helmet saved him, so he lived to go through a legal nightmare and a long time of pain.

That damage looks much too smooth and symmetrical to have been done in an accident. People who post this stuff don't do the pro-helmet argument any good without posting more details because they lend suspicion to their claims. That looks like it was done by either a band saw or a belt sander.

Helmets certainly work in most situations, but the right to choose whether to wear one should be respected.

Picture looks like it was modified with the "alleged" damage.

What kind of contorted neck position would you find yourself in in order for the helmet to sustain the damage in that location? Seems staged but I could be wrong.

Seen half helmets slide up in the back upon impact, with the strap strangling the occupant. That's always pleasant to witness.
I call bullshit.
