Default Hex head size?

Anybody know the size of the hex head wrench that goes for the screw I think HD calls a stretch tube? on a 2012 wide glide?

Not sure what they call it, but it's the hex head that goes in the bottom of the fork tube carrier to keep the tube attached.

Ya I know, wrong terminology but manual is in garage and I'm in house where comp is.

And sorry for posting here but I need to go get that wrench and need an answer as soon as I can.

TIA

Search finally came up with 12mm, is that right??

Maybe, but if it is the fastener that secures the slider to the tub assembly only accessible with the axle removed, then that would be an 8mm fastener that uses a 6mm hex key size- This is what I have always encountered anyway-

Axles off, replacing tubes.
Thanks

Hannibal is correct: 6MM Allen. Can be had at Sears. I have a long ball end style. Ball end not needed but length is.

Wrong screw, it's a 12mm, It's the screw that holds the tubes to the slider, I think your talking about the axle cap screw.

I can't find one though, NAPA, auto quest, O'Riley, sears, northern tool, home depot, no go, rumor has it Ace hardware has one.

Can't even find a snap on guy driving around..

New one to me! All I have seen are the 8mm fasteners that secure the system.

Been using these for about 8 years now metric & SAE with impacts on big stuff in industrial settings and the ends still look better than my snap-on home set does.

Don't have any larger metric hex heads, I'll take a look next time I drive by a harbor freight store, thanks.

We got the tubes apart, buddy had a 12mm but wife ordered the snap on one, probably never use it, but I'll have one if needed.
